Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Madras won the Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Awards. IIT Madras’ courses – BS Data Science and NPTEL in collaboration with IISc Bangalore, won awards for the best programmes. 17-year-old pilot sets record for solo flight around the world

A 17-year-old pilot became the youngest person to fly solo around the world in a small aircraft after he landed in Bulgaria, where his journey kicked off five months ago.

Mack Rutherford, a Belgian-British dual national, landed on an airstrip west of Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, to complete his task and to claim two Guinness World Records.

Liberty Medal to be awarded to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy

The 2022 Liberty Medal will be awarded this fall to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The National Constitution Center announced that Zelenskyy will be honored in a ceremony in October for what it called “his heroic defense of liberty in the face of Russian tyranny.”

Boris Johnson gives Churchill Leadership Award to Ukraine’s Zelenskyy

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Sir Winston Churchill Leadership Award. The Churchill leadership award was first presented in 2006. Past recipients include Prince Charles, former British Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major, and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

Indian-American engineering professor wins Global Energy Prize

Kaushik Rajashekara, an Indian-origin professor of engineering at the University of Houston, has won the prestigious Global Energy Prize for outstanding contributions to transportation electrification and energy efficiency technologies while reducing power generation emissions.

Only three people in the world were selected this year for the honour, bestowed by the Global Energy Association, out of a record 119 nominations from 43 countries.

A NASA climate research scientist – Cynthia Rosenzweig  was awarded the World Food Prize 2022.
Cynthia Rosenzweig, an agronomist and climatologist, was awarded the $250,000 prize in recognition of her innovative modeling of the impact of climate change on food production.
