In a significant move to promote spatial planning at the Gram Panchayat level, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has introduced two innovative applications: Gram Manchitra and mActionSoft. These applications leverage geospatial technology to enhance decision-making and streamline development processes within Gram Panchayats.
Gram Manchitra: A Unified Geospatial Platform
Gram Manchitra serves as a comprehensive geospatial platform, providing a unified view of various development initiatives across different sectors. It facilitates the visualization of these projects and offers a decision support system for formulating Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs).
mActionSoft: Mobile-based Asset Tracking
The mActionSoft application complements Gram Manchitra by enabling Gram Panchayats to capture geotagged photos of assets created under the finance commission funds. These assets can be visualized on the Gram Manchitra application, providing a comprehensive repository of information on various developmental works.
Enhanced Decision-making and Transparency
Gram Manchitra empowers Gram Panchayat officials with a suite of GIS-powered planning tools, enabling them to identify potential development sites, track assets, estimate project costs, and assess project impacts. This information fosters informed decision-making and ensures that development projects are aligned with local needs and priorities.
Empowering Rural Development
The introduction of Gram Manchitra and mActionSoft marks a pivotal step towards strengthening grassroots democracy and empowering Gram Panchayats. By providing these tools and resources, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj is paving the way for more inclusive, sustainable, and transparent rural development in India.
