Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, along with Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, launched the Ideas4LiFE initiative at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The initiative aims to invite ideas related to products and services that induce behavioral changes towards environment-friendly lifestyles.
Call to Action
Shri Yadav urged students, research scholars, faculty, and innovators to submit innovative and out-of-the-box ideas to support the vision of mindful and deliberate resource utilization as envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister. He emphasized the importance of participation from the academic and research community in this global mission.
Objectives of Ideas4LiFE
The primary goal of Ideas4LiFE is to encourage and motivate the academic community to contribute innovative ideas to the global initiative of Mission LiFE. This initiative provides a platform for inspired minds to engage in a global movement dedicated to environmental sustainability.
Importance of Mission LiFE
Shri Yadav highlighted that nature provides us with essential resources like food, oil, energy, and medicine in their purest forms. In return, our outputs are often impure, necessitating introspection and action to preserve nature for future generations. He stressed the collective responsibility to make the initiative successful through mindful and deliberate use of resources.
Online Portal and Recognition
The portal ‘Ideas4Life.nic.in’ allows participants to submit their ideas and innovations online. Winning ideas under each of the seven themes of Mission LiFE will be recognized and awarded with attractive prizes for individuals and institutions.
Tree Plantation and Nationwide Movement
On this occasion, Shri Yadav planted a sapling at the IIT Delhi campus as part of the nationwide ‘EkPedMaaKeNaam’ or ‘Plant4Mother’ movement initiated on World Environment Day, June 5th.
Participation and Support
UGC, AICTE, IITs, and other educational institutions across the country will play a crucial role in promoting the Ideas4LiFE Ideathon among students, researchers, and academic fraternity. The Ideathon covers seven themes of Mission LiFE: Save Water, Save Energy, Reduce Waste, Reduce E-Waste, Say No to Single-Use Plastics, Adopt Sustainable Food Systems, and Adopt Healthy Lifestyles.

UNICEF has been an active partner in implementing Mission LiFE. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in collaboration with UNICEF YuWaah, has developed a comprehensive Ideas4LiFE portal for submission, management, and processing of innovative ideas.
