Alexander Dunn Awarded the 2024 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize

We are thrilled to announce that Alexander Dunn from Georgia Tech has been awarded the prestigious 2024 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize. This prestigious award will be presented at the International Conference on Number Theory, which is scheduled to take place from December 20-22, 2024, at SASTRA University in Kumbakonam, South India— the hometown of the legendary mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Contributions to Analytic Number Theory

Dunn is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to analytic number theory, particularly his joint work with Maksym Radziwill in solving the Kummer-Patterson Conjecture. This conjecture concerns the bias related to cubic Gauss sums, and Dunn’s work represents a significant breakthrough in this area of mathematics.

About the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize

The SASTRA Ramanujan Prize was established in 2005 to honor young mathematicians for their contributions to areas influenced by Ramanujan’s work. Over the years, the prize has recognized some of the most distinguished mathematicians in the field.

Previous recipients of the award include:

  • Manjul Bhargava (2005)
  • Terence Tao (2006)
  • Akshay Venkatesh (2008)
  • Peter Scholze (2013)
  • James Maynard (2014)
  • Maryna Viazovska (2017)

Congratulations to Alexander Dunn

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Alexander Dunn for his remarkable achievement. We are also proud to mention that our colleague, Krishna Alladi, chairs the award committee that selected Dunn for this prestigious honor.
