Writer K Venu received Federal Bank Literary Award 2023

  • Noted writer K Venu has bagged the first-ever Federal Bank Literary Award 2022 for his autobiography ‘Oranweshananthinte Katha’.
  • The award was presented by the chairman and independent director of the Federal Bank, Balagopal Chandrasekhar.
  • It was presented at an event held as part of the ongoing sixth edition Kerala Literature Festival, Kozhikode beach.

  • The Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) has announced Digital Impact awards 2023 in eight categories.

RRR wins Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’ at 2023 Golden Globe Awards

  • SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” has won the 2023 Golden Globe Awards for the best original song–motion picture for “Naatu Naatu” track.
  • The movie was also nominated for the ‘best picture-non English’.
  • This track was composed by veteran music director, MM Keeravaani and sung by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj

President of India conferred 2022 Digital India Awards

  • The President of India, Droupadi Murmu has conferred the Digital India Awards 2022 to the winners on 7th January 2023.
  • The e-NAM (Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare) was awarded the platinum award in Digital Empowerment of Citizens category.
  • The e-Vivechna App (Madhya Pradesh) was awarded the platinum award in Digital Initiatives at Grassroots Level.
  • The Mine Mitra (Uttar Pradesh) was awarded in Digital Initiatives for Ease of Doing Business category.

Director Aparna Sen received lifetime achievement award at Jaipur Film Fest

  • Veteran actor-director, Aparna Sen was honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the opening ceremony of the 15th edition of the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF).
  • She made her film debut in Teen Kanya (directed by Satyajit Ray) in 1961.
  • She has directed acclaimed movies like 36 Chowringhee Lane (1981), Paroma (1985), Paromitar Ek Din (2000), and Mr and Mrs Iyer (2002).
  • 282 films from 63 countries are being screened from 6th -10th January 2023.

Chhattisgarh police ‘Nijaat’ campaign received IACP 2022 Award

  • The anti-drug & illicit liquor campaign of Chhattisgarh police named ‘Nijaat’ has been selected for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) 2022 award under the ‘Leadership in Crime Prevention’ in the institutional category.
  • This campaign was launched under the leadership of the IPS officer Santosh Kumar Singh.
  • Under this campaign, strict action taken against illegal drug dealers, intensive public awareness and rehabilitation of the addicts.

IIT Madras wins Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Awards 2022

Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Madras won the Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Awards. IIT Madras’ courses – BS Data Science and NPTEL in collaboration with IISc Bangalore, won awards for the best programmes. As per the official press release issued by IIT Madras, the BS in Data Science and Applications programme won Silver in the ‘Best Online Program’ category. The NPTEL – National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, won the Gold in the ‘Lifelong Learning’ category.

The Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Awards are considered to be the Oscars of Education. The award ceremony was conducted at the Wharton Campus at Philadelphia, USA.

The Data Science programme was awarded for being the best online degree programme and for providing a hybrid mode of teaching and learning. The NPTEL programme won for providing students with an opportunity for personal and professional development, including upskilling and re-skilling.

IIT Madras’ programme for Data Science and Applications has more than 15,000 students enrolled at various levels. The NPTEL programme offers more than 4,000 courses for certification and has over two crore enrolments and more than 23 lakh examination registrations from students.

Nikhat Zareen won gold at 2022 Women’s Boxing National Championship

  • Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain have won gold medals at Women’s National Boxing Championship 2022, organised in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
  • Lovlina Borgohain defeated Arundhati Choudhary of Services in the 75kg final and Nikhat Zareen defeated Anamika of Railways in the 50kg category.
  • The Railways team has topped the medals tally with 10 medals – five golds, three silvers and two bronze. MP placed second in medal tally, followed by Haryana.

NHPC won 2022 ‘Best Globally Competitive Power Company of India’ award

NHPC Limited has been awarded as Winner of ‘Best Globally Competitive Power Company of India – Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sector’ at PRAKASHmay ‘15th Enertia Awards 2022’.

The Award has been conferred to NHPC in recognition of its leadership in the hydropower sector with a gross asset class renewable energy capacity of more than 7000 MW. The award also recognizes that NHPC has more than 5000 MW of projects under construction and an ambitious 7000 MW plus plan for Solar capacity addition.

Sudeep Sen, Shobhana Kumar won Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021-22

The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021-22 has been jointly won by Sudeep Sen for his genre and formbender Anthropocene: Climate Change, Contagion, Consolation (Pippa Rann Books & Media, 2021) and Shobhana Kumar for her haibun collection A Sky Full of Bucket Lists (Red River, 2021).

The winners, awarded $10,000 and a Rabindranath Tagore statuette, were picked from a shortlist of 11 at India International Centre on Monday, with the Tagore Prize for social achievement going to Sanjoy K Roy, producer of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize was started in 2018 to annually recognise literary and social accomplishments. In 2020, the award was won by Raj Kamal Jha, Chief Editor, The Indian Express, for The City and The Sea (2019, Penguin Books), and in 2019, it was awarded posthumously to Kabir for One Hundred Poems of Kabir, translated by Rabindranath Tagore.
