On October 19, 2023, Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, proudly inaugurated the ‘Shraddhanjali’ flyover in Guwahati. This astonishing feat of engineering spans 2.28 kilometers and was completed in a mere 60 days, a remarkable achievement considering it was accomplished 300 days ahead of the original schedule. This flyover, now the second longest in the state, connects Commerce Point with Sundrapur on RG Baruah Road and showcases the government’s dedication to efficient and cost-effective infrastructure projects.
The name ‘Shraddhanjali’ was chosen as a tribute to the iconic Shraddhanjali Kanan, a park within the state zoo cum-botanical garden, emphasizing Assam’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
This accomplishment follows another significant achievement by Chief Minister Sarma earlier in the year when he inaugurated the Nilachal Flyover on August 30, 2023, which is now the longest flyover in the state, connecting Maligaon Chariali to Kamakhya Gate in the city. Spanning 2.63 kilometers, it was successfully completed within a concise 35-month timeline, further underlining the government’s commitment to efficient infrastructure development.
The inauguration of the ‘Shraddhanjali’ Flyover serves as a testament to the Assam government’s commitment to rapid and efficient infrastructure development. It not only alleviates traffic congestion but also symbolizes the government’s dedication to improving the lives of its constituents. With milestones like the ‘Shraddhanjali’ and Nilachal flyovers, Assam is on a transformative path toward enhanced infrastructure and improved connectivity.
