The Union Cabinet has approved policy on long term leasing of Railway Land for implementing PM Gati Shakti framework. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, the policy will bring more revenue to Railways and generate about one lakh 20 thousand jobs. He said, three hundred PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals will also be developed over next five years.
Gati Shakti is a digital platform that will bring 16 ministries and departments of the Government of India together and that includes the Railways and the Roadways also. The idea is to have a coordinated execution of infrastructure connectivity projects across the country.
