CCI imposes Rs 936 crore penalty on Google for abuse of dominance

  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed another  penalty of Rs. 936.44 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position with respect to its Play Store policies.
  • Google dominance in the markets for licensable OS for smart mobile devices & market for app stores for Android smart mobile OS, in India.
  • Earlier, CCI had imposed a penalty of ₹1,337.76 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position in multiple markets in the Android Mobile ecosystem.
