The Gulf of Oman has become the stage for the third installment of the joint naval exercise, “Security Bond-2023,” conducted by China, Russia, and Iran. Spanning five days, the exercise is focused on protecting critical maritime routes and involves various operations such as aerial searches, sea rescues, fleet formations, and assigned tasks. Coinciding with the final phase of the International Maritime Exercise 2023 (IMX 2023), which includes the participation of 50 countries and international agencies, this joint drill aims to showcase the collective determination and capabilities of the participating nations in safeguarding maritime security.

While the United States acknowledges the exercise, it will closely monitor the evolving ties between these countries. Equipped with advanced radar systems and a versatile vertical launch system, the Chinese guided-missile destroyer ‘Nanning’ is among the five warships deployed by China to participate in the drills. The Security Bond exercise not only enhances practical cooperation among the participating navies but also promotes regional peace and stability, fostering a shared future for the sea.
