In a significant development, Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty has taken on the pivotal position of Director (Finance) at the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA). Dr. Mohanty, a highly regarded senior finance professional with a remarkable 25-year career in the Indian power sector, brings a rich trove of knowledge and experience to enhance IREDA’s leadership. The ACC’s approval underscores the importance of this appointment.
According to an order from the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty’s tenure in this role spans five years from his official assumption of duties or until further directives, ensuring a long-term commitment aimed at providing stability and continuity in IREDA’s financial leadership.
Prior to joining IREDA, Dr. Mohanty, at the age of 53, held the esteemed positions of Head of Department and Senior General Manager (Finance & Accounts) at REC Limited. His illustrious career in the Indian power sector is characterized by substantial contributions, with invaluable roles at GRIDCO (Grid Corporation of Odisha) and CESCO Distribution Company, where he honed his expertise across the entire power sector value chain.
Dr. Mohanty boasts a diverse educational background, holding Ph.D., M.Phil, M.Com, MA (Public Administration), and LL.B degrees, along with a postgraduate diploma in Management. He is also a distinguished fellow member of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of India and holds a Ph.D. in Commerce from KIIT, Bhubaneswar.
