DRDO-Industry Meet at Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024: Fostering Collaboration and Technology Transfer

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) organized a DRDO-Industry Meet on February 25, 2024, during the Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024 at Pune. Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LATOT)

During the meet, DRDO facilitated the transfer of technology by handing over 23 Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LATOT) to 22 industries. These agreements covered a diverse range of domains including electronics, laser technology, armaments, life sciences, materials science, combat vehicles, naval systems, and aeronautics. Notable technologies transferred include Manufacturing of Carbon/Carbon Aircraft brakes for LCA Tejas, 100 m Infantry Foot Bridge Floating, and Weaponisation of Hand-Held Thermal Imager with LRF (WHHTI), among others. This transfer of technology is expected to significantly contribute to the defense manufacturing sector and enhance self-reliance in defense.

SAMAR Assessment Certificates

DRDO awarded SAMAR (System for Advanced Manufacturing Assessment and Rating) assessment certificates to nine Industry Partners during the event. SAMAR serves as a benchmark for assessing the competency of defense manufacturing enterprises. This certification acknowledges the capabilities of these industry partners and their contribution to the defense manufacturing ecosystem.

DRDO’s Commitment and Vision

Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO, reaffirmed DRDO’s commitment to supporting the development of Indian defense industries. He emphasized DRDO’s role in realizing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) advocated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Dr. Kamat highlighted the recent successes of DRDO products in enhancing self-reliance in defense technology and creating opportunities for industries in the defense manufacturing sector.
