In a delightful fusion of India’s rich comic book heritage and the democratic spirit, the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Pran Comics have joined forces to launch “Chacha Chaudhary aur Chunavi Dangal,” a comic book designed to inspire and educate the youth about the importance of participating in the democratic process.
The launch ceremony took place at Nirvachan Sadan, where CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar, along with ECs Shri Anup Chandra Pandey and Shri Arun Goel, introduced this imaginative initiative. The comic book features beloved characters from the iconic Chacha Chaudhary comics, such as Chacha Chaudhary himself, the towering Sabu, and the mischievous Billoo, all brought to life by the renowned Cartoonist late Shri Pran Kumar Sharma.
CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar emphasized the enduring relevance of comics as a medium for outreach and education, particularly in this digital age. He highlighted the universal appeal of these comic characters and their emphasis on values like honesty, kindness, and compassion, which provide an engaging platform to creatively convey election-related information.
With a significant following among children and teenagers, this medium offers the Election Commission a unique opportunity to engage with the youth effectively. It aims to instill a sense of informed and responsible citizenship from an early age, fostering an understanding of the election process and its significance in a democracy.
The comic book serves as a versatile tool, addressing various vital aspects of voter awareness. Its primary objective is to encourage young eligible voters to register themselves, ensuring their active participation in upcoming elections.
Within the pages of the comic, Chacha Chaudhary takes on the role of an electoral guide, introducing readers to various apps developed by the Election Commission of India, such as cVigil and KYC. This empowers readers to become active and informed participants in the election process, leveraging technology for a stronger democracy.
Furthermore, the comic book strongly underscores the importance of women’s participation in the electoral process, aligning with ECI’s efforts to increase women’s engagement in democracy. It is available in both print and digital formats, making it accessible to a wide audience. To inspire young minds, free copies of the comic book will be distributed to schools, educating future voters about the democratic process.
This remarkable collaboration between ECI and Pran Comics represents a creative and imaginative approach to nurturing civic awareness and encouraging youth participation in the festival of democracy, ensuring that the legacy of Chacha Chaudhary continues to inspire generations to come.
