Vinod Mankara, an acclaimed filmmaker and writer honored with national awards, presented his latest creation, ‘Prism: The Ancestral Abode of Rainbow,’ with a remarkable launch at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This unique event took place amid the bustling preparations for India’s highly anticipated Moon mission, Chandrayaan-3. Led by ISRO Chairman S Somanath, the book was handed over to VSSC Director S Unnikrishnan Nair, adding an element of excitement to the ongoing countdown for the historic launch. The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed space scientists, including SDSC-SHAR Director A Rajarajan, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) Director V Narayanan, and former ISRO Director K Radhakrishnan. Lipi Akbar, the Managing Director of Lipi Publications, the book’s publisher, also graced the event. ‘Prism,’ published by Lipi Books based in Kozhikode, is an enthralling compilation of 50 thought-provoking articles from various scientific disciplines, ranging from space science and astronomy to biology, anthropology, and mathematics. Covering an array of intriguing topics such as the James Webb Space Telescope, dark sky tourism, black hole confirmation, and the pioneering space journey of the dog Laika, ‘Prism’ offers readers a captivating exploration of the marvels of science. Notably, the book features a foreword written by S Somanath himself, emphasizing its profound engagement with the wonders of scientific discovery. ‘Prism’ serves as an artistic and poetic voyage into the realms of science, fostering a profound connection between ordinary individuals and the captivating beauty of scientific exploration. Vinod Mankara, known for his acclaimed work ‘Yanam,’ a science-Sanskrit documentary highlighting India’s historic Mars Orbiter Mission ‘Mangalyaan,’ has garnered national and state awards throughout his illustrious career.
