Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Madras won the Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Awards. IIT Madras’ courses – BS Data Science and NPTEL in collaboration with IISc Bangalore, won awards for the best programmes. As per the official press release issued by IIT Madras, the BS in Data Science and Applications programme won Silver in the ‘Best Online Program’ category. The NPTEL – National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, won the Gold in the ‘Lifelong Learning’ category.
The Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Awards are considered to be the Oscars of Education. The award ceremony was conducted at the Wharton Campus at Philadelphia, USA.
The Data Science programme was awarded for being the best online degree programme and for providing a hybrid mode of teaching and learning. The NPTEL programme won for providing students with an opportunity for personal and professional development, including upskilling and re-skilling.
IIT Madras’ programme for Data Science and Applications has more than 15,000 students enrolled at various levels. The NPTEL programme offers more than 4,000 courses for certification and has over two crore enrolments and more than 23 lakh examination registrations from students.
