A significant milestone was achieved as Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, officially inaugurated the Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) Aviation Security Control Centre (ASCC) in New Delhi. The ASCC’s primary objective is to tackle prevailing security challenges and enhance the safety of the 66 civil airports currently under CISF’s security coverage.
The ASCC boasts advanced capabilities, operating 24×7 with real-time data monitoring and trend analysis of passengers and air traffic. It is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including a data center, research and development lab, and a dedicated war room for emergencies, ensuring efficient processing of critical information.
The center receives continuous real-time data from security operations control centers (SOCCs) located at the 66 airports, which includes major civil aviation facilities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, known for their high volume of activity and heightened sensitivity. By providing accurate and up-to-date information on passenger traffic, the ASCC enables optimal resource allocation and utilization.
Under the vigilant oversight of CISF, responsible for aviation security, the ASCC will play a pivotal role in various aspects at the covered airports. This includes monitoring bomb threat calls, VVIP movements, major incidents, passenger clearance time, and the utilization of security gadgets and queue management systems. Operating under the Union Home Ministry’s command, the CISF offers armed security cover to these airports as part of its aviation security group (ASG).
It’s worth mentioning that the inauguration was graced by the presence of Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Minister of Civil Aviation of India, and Sheel Vardhan Singh, the Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), emphasizing the significance of this strategic security initiative.
