The Global Food Regulators Summit, slated to take place on July 20th and 21st in New Delhi, will bring together food regulators from 40 countries, including G20 member nations. The summit serves as a crucial platform for deliberations on global food safety standards, attracting diverse stakeholders from around the world. Key activities, spanning over two days, include keynote addresses by international organizations and scientists, technical sessions with food regulators, interactive discussions with national and international stakeholders, and bilateral and multilateral meetings to address pertinent challenges.

This significant event offers participants an opportunity to engage in discussions and exchanges regarding food safety and regulatory matters. The summit aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements while facilitating the sharing of best practices, experiences, and success stories related to food safety regulations. Collaborative opportunities among global regulators and agencies will be explored, with a focus on establishing synergies and developing effective tools and techniques for information sharing.

Distinguished organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Germany’s Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (USA), Health Canada, and the Australian Institute of Food Safety and Technology, will participate in the summit. Leveraging their expertise and perspectives, these renowned entities will contribute to enriching the discussions.

India, as the host country, brings its prominence in the food processing sector to the forefront. Holding the second position in milk production, vegetable cultivation, and horticulture crops, India showcases its commitment to ensuring food safety and promoting sustainable practices within the industry.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, while Rajesh Bhusan serves as the current chairperson of FSSAI. Their leadership and expertise in the field further strengthen India’s position as a host and highlight the country’s dedication to advancing food safety standards globally.
