The Indian Air Force Day, celebrated on the 8th of October each year since its establishment in 1932, marks its 91st anniversary in 2023. This significant occasion will be observed with great enthusiasm and fervor at air stations nationwide. The IAF will showcase its prowess with aerial displays, including formations such as ‘luv Kush,’ ‘Sugreev,’ and ‘Bharat,’ featuring a total of 120 aircraft soaring above the holy Sangam area in Prayagraj.

Indian Air Force Day 2023: A Celebration of 91 Glorious Years On October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force officially took flight, and ever since, this date has been a reminder of its unwavering dedication to defending the nation’s airspace and security. The 2023 celebration will be marked by parades and air shows, reflecting the IAF’s commitment as the air arm of India’s defense forces.

The Motto and Milestones: The motto of Indian Air Force Day 2023 is “Nabham Sparsham Deeptham,” signifying the aspiration to touch the sky with glory. With over 1,400 aircraft and 170,000 personnel, the IAF has played a pivotal role in four wars against Pakistan and one with China, safeguarding the nation’s skies and security. Notably, the legendary MIG-21 jets will make their farewell appearance during the parade, as the IAF phases out the remaining three squadrons, making way for indigenously developed Tejas Mark 1A aircraft from 2025 onwards.

A Tradition of Excellence: The Indian Air Force Day is a tradition that began on April 1, 1933, to raise awareness of the IAF. This day symbolizes the respect and reverence that the Indian defense system commands among its citizens. Air shows and parades, featuring the impressive skills of Indian Air Force cadets, are conducted across the nation’s air force bases to honor this important occasion.

Grandeur in Prayagraj: This year, the Indian Air Force Day celebration in Prayagraj will be particularly grand, with the inclusion of five Sarang helicopters, adding to the spectacle. The military parade will follow its time-honored schedule and protocol, with the Supreme Commander of the Indian Air Force actively participating in various forms, underscoring the significance of this momentous day.
