The Indian Army contingent has departed today for the 5th edition of the India-Oman Joint Military Exercise, AL NAJAH. This exercise is scheduled to take place from September 13 to September 26, 2024, at the Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman. Since its inception in 2015, Exercise AL NAJAH has been conducted biennially, alternating between India and Oman. The last edition was held at Mahajan in Rajasthan, India.
Contingents
- Indian Army Contingent: Comprises 60 personnel from a Battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, alongside other arms and services.
- Royal Army of Oman Contingent: Also consists of 60 personnel, represented by the Frontier Force troops.
Objectives
The primary aim of Exercise AL NAJAH V is to enhance the joint military capability of both nations for counter-terrorism operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The focus of the exercise will be on operations in a desert environment.
