The 31st edition of the FISU World University Games witnessed a stunning display of talent and determination from India’s contingent, culminating in a record-breaking nine gold medals. Spearheading this phenomenal performance was shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, who emerged as the star of the Indian team with two individual gold medals. Alongside him, the men’s 10m air rifle team, featuring Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Arjun Babuta, exhibited exceptional teamwork to secure another gold medal.

With their impressive medal haul, India’s overall tally at the Games reached an impressive 17 medals, comprising nine gold, three silver, and five bronze medals. This outstanding achievement propelled India to the fourth position on the medals table, trailing only behind sporting powerhouses China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

In the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar demonstrated unmatched precision and composure, earning him the coveted gold medal. Not content with just one victory, Aishwary continued to shine in the men’s 10m air rifle team event, securing yet another gold for his team.

During the intense finale of the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, Aishwary’s exceptional marksmanship allowed him to score an impressive total of 252.6 points, edging past his compatriot and fellow Tokyo Olympian, Divyansh Singh Panwar, who claimed the silver medal with 251 points. The bronze medal went to China’s Buhan Song, who scored 229 points in the event.

In the men’s 10m air rifle team competition, the Indian trio comprising Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Arjun Babuta displayed outstanding coordination and skill. Their collective effort yielded a combined score of 1894.7 points, earning them the gold medal. China closely followed with a silver medal, amassing 1881.9 points, while Kazakhstan secured the bronze with a score of 1878.2 points.
