Facing off against South Korea’s Chaewon So in the women’s individual compound archery final, Jyothi secured a thrilling victory with a final score of 149-145. This accomplishment further cements her position as a standout athlete in the realm of archery.
Jyothi’s journey to victory began on a slightly shaky note with an initial 8-pointer, but she swiftly rebounded with a series of flawless 10-point shots. By the end of the third round, she was leading 89-87. The last two rounds showcased her undeniable dominance as she maintained a four-point lead, preventing her Korean opponent from staging a comeback. This achievement marked India’s fourth gold medal in archery at the ongoing Asian Games, including victories in the mixed team, women’s compound team, and men’s compound events. It also contributed to India’s total medal count in the sport, which now stands at an impressive seven.
The day commenced with Aditi Gopichand Swami securing a bronze medal in archery by defeating Indonesia’s Ratih Zilizati with a score of 146-140. This achievement added to India’s overall medal tally, which now stands at 97, with an impressive 23 gold medals.
