The Karnataka Government has fulfilled its promise to empower women heads of households with the launch of the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme. Commencing on July 19th, this scheme aims to provide essential financial support of Rs. 2,000 per month to eligible beneficiaries. Registration for the scheme can be done either online through the dedicated Seva Sindhu Guarantee Scheme portal or offline at designated centers without any registration fee.
To be eligible for the scheme, women must be the head of their household and must not fall under the category of income tax. Additionally, they should not be government employees, and only one woman per family can benefit from the program. The scheme is expected to benefit approximately 1.28 crore women in Karnataka, making a significant impact on their financial status and empowering them to have greater control over their finances.
The online registration process requires applicants to visit the official Seva Sindhu Guarantee Scheme portal and select the “Gruha Lakshmi Scheme 2023” from the available options. New users can register by providing their Aadhar number and necessary details, while existing users can log in using their credentials. The application form should be filled with accurate personal information, family income, address, and bank account details. Essential documents like Aadhar card, domicile certificate, ration card, and bank account passbook must be uploaded as mentioned in the form. After submission, applicants should note down the application number for future reference.
Once the authorities verify the submitted applications and approve them, beneficiaries will start receiving the monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,000 directly in their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The scheme’s allocated budget of Rs. 18,000 crore demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the lives of over 1.28 crore women, benefiting a total of 12.8 million families across the state. The Gruha Lakshmi Scheme has garnered widespread support from women’s groups and activists, who laud its potential to bring about positive change and enhance financial well-being for women in Karnataka.
