Launch of “The Voicebox” Program for Voice-Over Artists in India

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and Netflix India have collaborated to introduce an upskilling program for voice-over artists in India known as “The Voicebox.” The program aims to provide training and opportunities for voice-over professionals to enhance their skills and contribute to the Indian media and entertainment industry.

Key Personnel and MoU Signing 

During the launch event at Shastri Bhawan, key dignitaries including Shri. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, MoIB, and representatives from NFDC, Netflix, and Pearl Academy, gathered to mark the formalization of the partnership. Shri. Prithul Kumar, Managing Director, NFDC, and Shri. Kiran Desai, General Counsel, and Senior Director – Business and Legal Affairs, Netflix India, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to solidify the collaboration.

Program Details 

“The Voicebox” program will provide Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) training for voice-over artists, focusing on multiple languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Gujarati. The program will include structured workshops, training sessions featuring guest lectures and mentoring, followed by assessments. These activities will be conducted in seven major cities of India, accommodating up to 30 candidates per batch, with 210 participants selected through preliminary screening. At least 50% of the participants will be women.

Partnerships and Special Project 

Pearl Academy, a leading design institute in India, will join as a Training Partner for the program. Additionally, seven top participants from each batch will be chosen to contribute to Netflix’s special project, “Azaadi ki Amrit Kahaniya,” where they will lend their voices to narrate stories reflecting the Indian independence movement.

Eligibility and Sponsorship 

The program is open to professionals, particularly women, with more than two years of experience in the media and entertainment sector who are keen to enhance their voice-over skills. “The Voicebox” program is sponsored by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, which is dedicated to supporting underrepresented communities in the TV and film industries through programs worldwide.
