Madras Boat Club women lift Adyar trophy

The Madras Boat Club women lift Adyar trophy at the 81st Annual Madras-Colombo Rowing Regatta at Colombo. The Colombo Rowing Club men lift the Deepam trophy at the event. The hundred-year-plus-old event was held after a three-year gap owing to the pandemic. The first-ever Madras-Colombo Regatta was held way back in 1898 and is considered to be the second oldest sporting event next only to Oxford – Cambridge Regatta.

The two rowing clubs, the Madras Boat Club and the Colombo Rowing Club organise the regatta alternately. The regatta featured 12 races in men’s and women’s groups in the categories of coxless fours, coxless pair, double sculls, and single sculls.
