Maharana Pratap was born on May 9th, 1540, in the Kumbhalgarh Fort, near Udaipur, Rajasthan. He succeeded his father as the ruler of Mewar in 1572, at a time when the Mughal emperor Akbar was expanding his empire and trying to bring Mewar under his control.

Maharana Pratap refused to submit to Akbar’s authority and instead fought a series of battles against the Mughal army. He is best known for the Battle of Haldighati, which took place on June 18th, 1576. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, Maharana Pratap led his army into battle against the Mughals, displaying exceptional bravery and skill.
