The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), in collaboration with the Maharashtra government and the Indian Ministry of Textiles, has officially inaugurated the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel Park (PM MITRA Park) in Amravati, Maharashtra. The primary objective of this initiative is to attract a substantial investment of ₹10,000 crore and generate 300,000 job opportunities. Spanning a contiguous land area of 1,020 acres in Nandgaon Peth, adjacent to the Additional Amravati Industrial Area (MIDC), the Park benefits from its strategic location, situated just 30 kilometers away from the Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Highway and 147 kilometers from the Wardha Dry Port.
The establishment of the PM MITRA Park aligns with the Government of India’s plans to create seven such textile parks across the country. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary 5F concept (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign), these parks aim to develop top-notch industrial infrastructure capable of attracting significant investments, including foreign direct investment (FDI), while fostering innovation and job creation within the textile sector.
India’s first PM MITRA Park was established in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. The parks in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra collectively aim to enhance the competitiveness of the textile industry by providing exceptional infrastructure, plug-and-play facilities, and resources for training and research. This unique model, where the central and state governments collaborate, aims to attract investments, drive innovation, create job opportunities, and position India as a global leader in textile manufacturing and exports.
The Union Minister of Textiles, Piyush Goyal, has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward. The establishment of PM MITRA Parks is expected to attract investments of approximately Rs. 70,000 crores and generate employment opportunities for around 2 million people, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the textile industry in India.
