National Newborn Week 2022

National Newborn Week is being observed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India from 15th through 21st November to reinforces the importance of newborn health as a key priority area and reiterates its commitment steered at the highest level.

In 2014, India became the first country to launch the India Newborn Action Plan (INAP), in alignment with the Global Every Newborn Action Plan towards eliminating preventable deaths of newborns and stillbirths. On 15th November 2021, an e-event for the National Newborn Week was held at MoHFW, under the mentorship of Shri. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary HFW, MoHFW, GoI in presence of senior officials of the Ministry.

This year the theme of National Newborn Week is “Safety, Quality and Nurturing care – Birth Right of Every Newborn”, this event was an opportunity for strategic State and Central Government officials and development partner representatives working on the child health agenda to renew their commitment towards eliminating preventable deaths of newborns in India.
