NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, has released a compendium titled “Best Practices in Social Sector: A Compendium, 2023” to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.
The compendium comprises 75 case studies sourced from all states and union territories and 30 ministries and departments of the Government of India across 14 key social sectors. The objective of the compendium is to synthesize lessons for the future to enhance and improve life at the grassroots level.
The Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Suman Bery, stated that the publication is an opportunity for peer-to-peer learning among states and adopting practices that are best suited to the context. The CEO of NITI Aayog, BVR Subrahmanyam, highlighted the potential of the case studies to be replicated across states and union territories.
The Resident Representative of UNDP India, Shoko Noda, stated that this document is not only significant for peer learning but also an important source for other countries to learn from India’s successes. NITI Aayog has stated that the seventy-five best practices are innovative, sustainable, replicable, and impactful.
