Over 1.37 crore students from across India participated in the third edition of Project Veer Gatha, a joint initiative by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education. This nationwide celebration of bravery and patriotism saw enthusiastic participation from schools, with 100 winners emerging at the national level.
Launched in July 2023, Veer Gatha 3.0 challenged students to explore inspiring themes through essays and paragraphs. From choosing Gallantry Award winners as role models to delving into the lives of freedom fighters like Rani Laxmibai, the diverse topics fostered a deeper understanding of history and culture amongst participants.
Schools played a crucial role, organizing local activities and facilitating interactions with Gallantry awardees. After several rounds of evaluations, 3,900 entries reached the national level, where a committee selected the 100 best, approved by State and UT authorities.
These 100 winners will be celebrated in New Delhi and receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each. The highlight, however, will be witnessing the Republic Day Parade 2024 as special guests. Recognizing the outstanding efforts of even more students, additional awards will be distributed at State/UT and District levels.
Project Veer Gatha, launched as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” celebrates the 75th year of Indian independence by instilling patriotism and civic consciousness in young minds. Building on the success of previous editions, which saw participation of 8 lakh and 19 lakh students respectively, the third edition has solidified its role as a national platform for inspiring future generations.
