On 30th July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, announced the commencement of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign to pay homage to the valiant martyrs of the country as a prelude to Independence Day.
As part of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign, an Amrit Kalash Yatra will be organized, where 7,500 Kalash containing soil from villages and corners across the nation, along with various plants, will journey to Delhi. These elements will be used to create an “Amrit Vatika” in proximity to the National War Memorial, serving as a living tribute to the sacrifice of the fallen heroes.
PM Modi urged the citizens to emulate last year’s “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative by hoisting the tricolor at their homes, encouraging them to recognize the countless sacrifices made for India’s freedom and cherish the true value of liberty.
During the broadcast, PM Modi also applauded the positive changes in the Haj Policy, which have led to increased opportunities for people to undertake the annual pilgrimage. Notably, the number of women who performed Haj without a Mehram exceeded 4,000, signifying a significant shift.
Addressing the recent natural calamities that have affected many regions, PM Modi commended the collective efforts of the people in facing the challenges and showcasing the nation’s resilience amidst adversity.
