During his visit to Sikar, Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi unveiled a game-changing advancement in agriculture known as “Urea Gold.” This innovative urea variant, coated with sulphur, offers a host of benefits to farmers and the soil they cultivate. By addressing sulphur deficiencies in the soil, Urea Gold promises improved nitrogen use efficiency, reduced fertilizer consumption, and enhanced crop quality. It emerges as a more cost-effective and efficient alternative to neem-coated urea, providing a significant opportunity for farmers to enhance their production while saving on input costs.
The gradual release of nitrogen facilitated by sulphur-coated urea increases its availability and uptake by crops, ensuring optimal nourishment over time. Additionally, the incorporation of humic acid further extends its lifespan as a fertilizer, optimizing its efficacy. Switching to Urea Gold not only substitutes traditional urea consumption but also leads to an overall reduction in fertilizer usage, resulting in sustainable farming practices and increased agricultural productivity.
In addition to introducing Urea Gold, PM Modi took the opportunity to release the 14th installment of the PM-KISAN Scheme and inaugurate several crucial projects in the poll-bound state. Furthermore, he initiated the onboarding of 1,500 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) on the Open Network for Digital Communication (ONDC), ensuring enhanced connectivity and communication for farmers. PM Modi also dedicated 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs), providing farmers with a comprehensive platform for agricultural information, testing facilities for soil, seeds, and fertilizers, and access to various government schemes. With these initiatives, the government aims to empower farmers and foster agricultural prosperity across the nation.
