Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the 47th GST Council Meeting in Chandigarh. On the beginning day of the two-day meeting today, the interim report on rate rationalisation, submitted by the Group of Ministers, was accepted by the Council. The representatives of all States and UTs attended the meeting.
The State Governments have asked for the continuation of GST compensation after the 30th of June and are hopeful of a positive response to their request.
