Rahul Gandhi Faces Obstacles in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as Visit to Batadrava Than is Interrupted

On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi faced obstacles while attempting to visit Batadrava Than in Assam as part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The yatra, or journey, was halted for more than two hours at Haibargaon in Nagaon.

Limited Access at Haibargaon

Around 9:30 am, only Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi and Batadrava MLA Sibamoni Bora were allowed to proceed past the barricades to visit Batadrava Than. The rest of the yatra participants were restricted.

Communication from Than Management Committee

The president of Batadrava Than’s management committee had sent a letter to MLA Sibamoni Bora the day before, stating that Rahul Gandhi would not be permitted to enter the premises before 3 pm on Monday. The reason cited was the expected gathering of thousands of people in the morning to observe the pran pratishtha at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Chief Minister’s Recommendation

Additionally, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had suggested that Rahul should visit Batadrava Than after the Ayodhya ceremony had concluded.
