Why girls get periods: Most girls get their first period around the age of 12. But, they can also get periods between the age of 10 and 15.

Once released, they increase the force of the contractions during the first couple days of your period. The higher the level of prostaglandins, the more severe the cramping is.

Very high levels can also cause nausea and diarrhea. As the lining is shed, the levels of prostaglandins in your body is lowered. This is why cramps typically subside after the first couple of days of your period.

Many girls have cramps with their period, especially in the first few days. In case of pain, you can use –

Can girls get pregnant during periods?

Periods doesn’t protect you from pregnancy. Some women may bleed when their ovaries release an egg each month, called ovulation, and mistake it for their period. You’re at your peak fertility when you ovulate. So if you have sex during this time, it could actually make you more likely to get pregnant.

You may ovulate before your period is over or within a few days after the bleeding stops. Since sperm can hang out in your body for up to 3 days, having sex during your period could lead to conception.
