Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs to Host Inaugural Pey Jal Survekshan Awards
The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs is set to host the first Pey Jal Survekshan Awards on March 5th, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, with Her Excellency, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, presiding over the event. These awards aim to honor cities and states for their exceptional performance in the water sector. With 130 awards across various categories, including the prestigious Pey Jal Gold, Silver, and Bronze City Awards, the initiative reflects a comprehensive evaluation carried out under AMRUT 2.0 in 485 cities. Additionally, the event marks the launch of the AMRUT Mitra initiative, focusing on actively involving women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in urban water management. The Pey Jal Survekshan results are anticipated to drive decision-making, enhance service delivery, and promote citizen engagement, fostering a culture of water conservation and optimal use.
