Microsoft and the Indian government will collaborate for a programme to train nearly 2.5 million civil servants in using the company’s suite of digital tools. The partnership between the tech giant, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) aims to help civil servants in helping the underprivileged. It will help them in delivering last-mile social welfare services, said a statement from Microsoft.

The world’s largest floating solar power plant is going to be built at Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh.The Madhya Pradesh government signed a contract for the first phase of the world's largest Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project. In the first phase of the 600 MW project, contracts of 278 MW capacities will be signed.

The Government has set the target to eliminate Kala-azar by next year from the country. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar said, out of 633 Kala-azar endemic blocks, 625 blocks have achieved the elimination target last year.

The Government has said that 13 lakh 92 thousand 265 Electric Vehicles are presently running on the roads in the country. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a USD 96.3 million (about Rs 770 crore) loan to fund safe drinking water and sanitation project in Himachal Pradesh.The loan has been provided under the Himachal Pradesh Rural Drinking Water Improvement and Livelihood Project.

Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to connect all registered commercial vehicles equipped with Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) with Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). Now these vehicles can be tracked anywhere in the country through VLTD. More than 9,423 vehicles have been registered and linked with ERSS. Now it will be monitored by both the police and the transport department.

As the government grapples to meet its stated goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022-23, a study by India’s largest bank, SBI, shows that between financial year 2017-18 and 2021-22, the average income of farmers rose by 1.3 -1.7 times across India, while in some crops like soybean in Maharashtra and cotton in Karnataka, incomes have in fact doubled during the same time.

The ministry published comprehensive guidelines for Mission Shakti — the guidelines are applicable from April.

Syngenta India announced a launch of Biodiversity Sensor Project, a biodiversity monitoring technology in association with IIT Ropar.Syngenta also flagged off India’s first Drone Yatra, that will travel 10,000 kms to create awareness on drone spraying among 10,000 farmers. The Yatra will travel to 13 states to demonstrate and educate farmers on use of drones.

The National Road Transport Institute in Gujarat will be upgraded to a central university and will be known as the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.The cabinet has also approved the setting up of the university. The Gati Shakti University will become the second central university in the state following the Central University of Gujarat.

The aim of the framework is to empower consumers and product buyers in the local market and harmonize trade between the original equipment manufacturers and the third-party buyers and sellers. Its aim is also to emphasize developing sustainable consumption of products and reduction in e-waste.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has introduced the Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS) by amending the import policy of major paper products from ‘free’ to ‘free subject to compulsory registration under PIMS’.The new policy will come into effect on October 1, 2022.  However, the online facility of registration will be available from July 15, 2022.

The Chhattisgarh Government has received an in-principle nod from the Centre to go ahead with a $300 million (approximately ₹2,100 crore) school education project the State is negotiating with the World Bank. The World Bank has been associated with India’s school education system since 1994, according to its website. One of its more recent projects, inked in 2021, is the $500 million Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States Program (STARS) to improve the quality and governance of school education in six Indian States. That list, however, does not include Chhattisgarh.

India joined the Interpol’s international child sexual exploitation (ICSE) database which will allow it to draw links between victims, abusers and crime scene using audio-visual data.The CBI, which is India’s nodal agency for Interpol matters, joined the database making India the 68th country to connect to it.

India’s largest floating solar plant is now fully operational at Ramagundam in Telangana’s Peddapalli district. The 100-megawatt (MW) floating solar power photovoltaic project was commissioned by the National Thermal Power Corporation.

The World Bank Board of Executive Directors approved two complementary loans of $500 million each to support and enhance India’s health sector. Through this combined financing of $1 billion, the Bank will support India’s flagship Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), launched in October 2021.

The Maharashtra government’s Energy department on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Adani Green Energy Group Ltd (AGEL) to generate 11000 MW green power in the next five years.It would entail an investment of Rs 60,000 crore and provide employment to 30,000 persons, a statement from the government said.

The Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change had issued a gazette notification last year announcing the ban, and has now defined a list of items that will be banned from next month.The manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of following single-use plastic, including polystyrene and expanded polystyrene, commodities shall be prohibited with effect from the 1st July, 2022.
