The Indian Space Research Organization will send a small satellite launch vehicle on 07 August from Sriharikota. It is a three-stage vehicle with all solid propulsion stages. The mission is to launch Earth Observation Satellite, EOS-02, and a co-passenger satellite, 'Azaadi SAT', into low earth orbit. The 'Azaadi Satellite' is designed by 750 girl students of government schools in rural areas from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

South Korea’s first Moon orbiter ‘Danuri’ launched into space

South Korea has joined the race to the Moon with the launch of its first lunar orbiter by Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX.Danuri – meaning “enjoy the Moon” – was carried on a Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida by Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX. It aims to enter the Moon’s orbit in December.

Exports dipped, though marginally, for the first time in 17 months in July, while trade deficit tripled to a record USD 31 billion fuelled by over 70 per cent rise in crude oil imports. The July 2022 exports at USD 35.24 billion showed a decline of by 0.76 per cent on annual basis. The country’s merchandise exports stood at USD 35.51 billion in July 2021.

To save cows from slaughter, the State government has launched ‘Punyakoti’ cow adoption scheme with public participation. Announcing the ‘Vidya Nidhi’ scholarship extended to students from weavers’ community too, Bommai said it would benefit about 10,000-12,000 children. ‘Shtree Samarthya’ Yojane would provide Rs 1.50 lakh as grant for each Women’s Self-Help Group and provide it with latest training in skills and marketing. ‘Swami Vivekananda Yuvashakthi Sanghas’ would be opened in 28,000 villages of the State and the youth would be provided with financial assistance and skills training to get self-employed.

Zimbabwe has launched gold coins to be sold to the public, in a bid to curb an inflation spike that has eroded the country’s unstable currency.Called Mosi-oa-Tunya, which in the local Tonga language refers to Victoria Falls, the coins “will have liquid asset status”, meaning they “will be capable of being easily converted to cash and will be tradable locally and internationally”. The coins “may also be used for transactional purposes”.
